Is Katla beginning to act up? 6 May 10 - Yesterday I wondered if Eyjafjallajökull might be a precursor to an eruption at nearby Katla volcano.

Map from:
http://en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/earthquakes/myrdalsjokull/ Lo and behold, the first sign of seismic activity may have occurred. I say may have occurred, because the website containing this map showed an earthquake beneath the massive Myrdalsjokull glacier yesterday.
Katla lies buried beneath the Myrdalsjokull glacier, which, with ice measuring 550 yards thick, is one of Iceland's largest.
A Katla eruption would be 10 times stronger and shoot higher and larger plumes of ash into the air than its smaller neighbor.
History has proven that when the Eyjafjallajokull (also called Eyjafjoll) volcano erupts, Katla also erupts — but no one can predict how soon, or how explosively.
